about

This is another older song we decided to include on the album because it has always been one of our favorites to play live. It is probably the most political song on the album, most of the original Rebel Radio songs were largely political and social commentary before this album when I took a much more personal approach to songwriting. This song is about the pitfalls of the American social and educational process that is designed to favor those from wealthy, elite backgrounds while forcing those of less fortunate means into the lower levels of the working class in order to preserve the illusion of the American dream. I have often been a big fan of conspiracy theories and the idea that there are sinister forces at work in our government and ruling class, whether it be the Illuminati, Free Masons, Bilderburgs, etc. The genius of it all is the allusion that we are ultimately free and can work really hard to move up to a higher socio-economic class while the reality of it all is that most of the time that is an anomaly. The system was designed and is maintained in order to keep a majority of the wealth and subsequent power in the hands of a small minority. If you really examine the American political system and it's checks and balances such as the electoral college, super delegates, bicameral legislature, etc you will see how completely unbalanced this balance of power is. But that's just how I see it, do your own research and make your own conclusions, I am just a sentimental idealist with extreme paranoia right?

lyrics

Pulled in all directions, all that I can see is contradiction
Misinform the masses, subtly sedate into submission
Given champions for causes that distract us from the problems
Instinctive loss
American entitlement and self-aggrandizement set us apart
While we preach of change we never seem to find the place to start
Kind is weakness but compassion is the ultimate disguise
Increasing cost

chorus
I think I'm running out of words
Keep pushing back against the herd

Pay attention in your classes, study hard and learn the rules
Never stop to question, get a job, make sure to pay your taxes
File all complaints in writing to your representative
Be sure to vote for change
Put yourself in debt in search of higher education and conform
Abandon all ideals and dreams as hope can only slow you down
Buy into the same dream-crushing philosophy
Just the way it goes

refrain
Is it Illuminati?
Or a conspiracy
Is it coincidental?
I'm just too sentimental

chorus
I think I'm running out of words
Keep pushing back against the herd

refrain
Is it Illuminati?
Or a conspiracy
Is it coincidental?
I'm just too sentimental

Now I'm screaming at this page
Soak my pen in ink of rage
Try to keep it to myself
I should keep it to myself

refrain
Is it Illuminati?
Or a conspiracy
Is it coincidental?
I'm just too sentimental
