This is my anthem for the social outcasts and people who never quite feel as though they belong wherever they may be. For as long as I can remember, I've never felt as though I was largely accepted in any social circle, which naturally drew me to the world of punk rock. Unfortunately, this was a double-edged sword as I came to find the same sort of social hierarchy and caste system existed there as well. So much "punker than thou", you have to listen to the right bands, have the right patches, etc. It was disheartening for a young teenage punk to be told what I had to do, listen to, wear, and so on by people who were supposedly such anti-conformists. It took me many years to learn to be comfortable enough in my own skin to stand up for myself and live my own life. To me, that is what makes me or anyone else a "loser", the ability to feel comfortable enough to lose anything related to any sort of status in order to preserve your own ideals. There are many of us out there, we don't look any specific way, we don't dress any specific way but we all carry the same take it or leave it kind of attitude that still is often accompanied by crippling self-doubt and social phobia. We would much rather be alone yet most of the time have learned to hate ourselves because of the way the world views us. Many of us are artists, writers and musicians and we all carry the ability to change so much of the society we have been scorned by if we could all support and uplift each other enough to unite towards a common goal. We losers could most likely accomplish anything if we weren't cursed with this crippling defeatist attitude that we only seem to nurture in each other instead of rising up to overcome it. My fellow losers, the time has come to rise up, nurture and support each other and take the world away from those who are obviously running it into the ground!
lyrics
Well we drink all night just to dull the pain
And use chemicals to control our brains
We use angry words to grow thicker skin
But the day will come when the losers win
Getting pushed around til we lose our minds
And our weakness is just the fact we're kind
Feet bloodied by miles in your shoes
Some day we'll push back and we may not lose
chorus
The time is right for fighting
When your back's against the wall
When the losers start uniting
Many palaces will fall
While we suffer all of your consequence
Stuck sitting on someone else's fence
Now we're left behind with what you won't face
And our mouths grow numb from the same bad taste
You step on us til we break our backs
Scarred and bruised by your tire tracks
Now we've had enough, we'll bear no more weight
Let the winners win and take back our fate
chorus
The time is right for fighting
When your back's against the wall
When the losers start uniting
Many palaces will fall
We're so tired of losing
Our future's for our choosing
chorus
The time is right for fighting
When your back's against the wall
When the losers start uniting
Many palaces will fall
It's something unpredictable, it's something I was waiting for so long. This is the perfect combination of what I love and what punk rock should be. A bit garage in some points always worth. The Unknown
